A trip to the pumpkin patch that wasn't

Last week we took a trip out to the pumpkin patch. Unfortunately, I did not pay attention to the fact that the ride on the tractor out to the pumpkins is only on the weekends. Surely we did not want to pick one of the pumpkins just laying around out front! So we snapped a few pictures and left pumpkin-less. Plans were made to return in a few days (Saturday).

Well it was Fall Break for the kids, so they spent Friday night at grandma and grandpa's house. We intended to pick them up in the afternoon and head to the pumpkin patch/apple orchard. Instead, we get a phone call asking for the kids to spend another night. Wellll, that depends. If the kids stay, there will be no trip to get pumpkins. They will just have to chose from the supermarket. A Sunday trip was not even suggested. It was a 1:00 football game to watch!! PRIORITIES!! pumpkins/football, pumpkins/football.... no brainer.

Anyway, we went on Wednesday to the Old Farm Market. Not quite the supermarket, but not quite the store at the pumpkin patch either. But the kids were fine with this. We chose our pumpkins from the not very wide selection and came home. Thursday, we carved our masterpieces. Although everything didn't go quite as we had planned, in the end we have happy kiddos.

Today was the kids got to go "mismatched" for school. I think this picture is too cute. Brandon had started tickling Jess to get her to smile.

New in Town (updated)

Geesh! Yesterday (Tues) I came home to dinner on the table and baths for the kiddos. Not to mention, a Great Pumpkin to be watched. In trying to hurry and put some pictures up of sweet Gracelynn, I forgot something.... how about some CONGRATULATIONS to her parents!? My dear friend Kristin and her fiance Corey are the proud parents of this precious bundle.
Congratulations guys!! Love you!

Two posts in one day!! WOW!! But I just had to!

I think I have like 100 pictures of this sweet girl. I'm sure you will be seeing more of her.

Fall color

We took a day trip, just the two of us, to check out the fabulous fall color. Without a particular destination in mind, we ended up at Turkey Run State Park. Here are just a few of our pictures. Really... only a few.
We finished off the evening with dinner at the Turkey Run Inn. It was delicious!! This will certainly be a spot we come back to visit. The kids will love it!

Weekend review

A little recap of our weekend...

Jess was scheduled to go camping Saturday morning. Her troop leader emailed the families to take a poll whether or not to keep their plans. It was supposed to get into the 30's at night and only in the mid 40's for the day. Not really ideal for a bunch of little girls in a tent. I was glad (and Jess was not) to receive the email telling us their trip was cancelled.
We headed over to Great Rachel's house. She was holding an open house to celebrate (Great)Grandma Jones' 75th birthday. Happy Birthday Grandma!!
We had the fixins for carmel apples, so Sunday afternoon we did some melting and decorating. While the finished product was chillin' in the fridge, we headed out to the Halloween store. While the kiddos were more than willing to wear their costumes from last year, we put our foot/feet (??) down. We will buy you a new costume!! Seriously, Jess has worn hers for 2 or 3 Halloweens and Brandon's just didn't quite fit anymore. Let's leave it at that. A trip to the Halloween store is like sending Daddy to the proverbial candy store. And it appears that Brandon will be a chip off the ol' block. But we left with costumes (for the kids) and decorations for the house. I think everyone left happy. Once home, we enjoyed the warmer weather. Decorating and picture taking. I had Brandon hold the camera so I could hang some ghosties in the tree. I turned around to see him taking a picture of a neighbor driving by. Best I could tell Brandon followed him with the camera as he turned the corner and passed in front of our house. He even smiled and waved. Our little photographer in the making.
Dinner was spaghetti with homemade sauce. That had been simmering all day. Hmmmm. Thank Daddy, not me. After bath time we did a mini photo shoot with the kiddos costumes. And forgot about our apples until after teeth had already been brushed. Looks like we might be having dessert tonight...

A change for the fall season

I thought it would be a good time to change things up. While the chalk board and crayons were cute and certainly a sign of autumn, let's reflect on the color changes and cool crisp air. I had considered a Halloween theme, but then I would have to change again in a couple of weeks. I do well enough to make blog entries. Let's not push it.

The picture is from last October, a trip to the park. We have not yet captured the kiddos in "fall form." I'll work on that...

Our Anniversary

Today we celebrate our 11th anniversary.

I will forgo all the mushy and sentimental stuff. But I will say that I am a lucky girl to have this guy as my husband. (and I think that the kiddos would say that he is a pretty good daddy too!)

Kids wanted to take turns so they could have their picture taken too.

Daddy's birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!
It was yesterday. But daddy had to spend all.day.driving. So we had a little bit of a birthday celebration. And by "celebration" I mean it consisted of us singing "Happy Birthday" and a gift.

Rachel's baby shower

I was going to post "just a few," but that never happens. So here are a bunch of pictures from my SIL's shower.

I also have a few pictures from the "mini party" (the 4 of us) for daddy's birthday on Monday. Actually, his birthday was yesterday. Anyhoo, I will try to get those up later. I should be heading out the door.... umm, right now.
